As long as your hotel is in the city center and close to a subway station, you're in good shape.
In our opinion, particularly good areas are:
* Marina Bay on the Marina Center side, with the iconic view of Singapore's skyline (opposite Marina Bay Sands). Four subway lines nearby, many malls, and an excellent starting point for city tours.

* Orchard Road, Singapore's main and bustling avenue. An avenue of glittering malls with futuristic designs, full of places to eat, and two subway lines.

* Bencoolen Street - one of the most underrated streets in Singapore right now, which is why you can find relatively inexpensive hotels there. A renovated street in the center of Singapore, access to three subway lines, an excellent starting point for city tours, good food, and a youthful atmosphere thanks to the art schools on the street.
* Clarke Quay area - close to Singapore's best entertainment district and two subway lines.
