Hello, I'm Avihai Elharar, and I'm happy to present my new project, "Singapore - The Hot Spot." For me, this isn't just another project; it's a revolution in my life!

In April 2020, I was still sitting in my spacious chair, in a magnificent office, in the heart of Singaporean bohemia, as an operational manager for a large cosmetics company. When it still seemed like we could weather the snowballing COVID-19 crisis, the crushing blow came: a harsh and uncompromising three-month lockdown.

Alongside the hope (which was repeatedly dashed) that COVID-19 would disappear from our world, I resolved that it was time for a revolution in my life and to fulfill old dreams that had been hidden deep in a drawer since the first decade of my life.

I've always admired tour guides. On school trips, I always walked at the front, close to the guide, eagerly absorbing their explanations and stories. I was as captivated as they were by the amazing landscapes of Israel. It was so evident that my classmates nicknamed me "Tour Guide" or "The Guide." Of all the nicknames I was given in my youth, this was one of my favorites. From the age of 14, I became a chief guide at "Kfar Blum Kayaks." Until I was 22 (excluding my three years of military service as a combat medic in Nahal), at the beginning of each season before Passover, I received the usual phone call from the CEO, Guy, who called me to report for the opening. I loved working as a kayak guide, and I loved the tour guides' explanations about the beautiful landscapes of Israel, but life led me in a completely different direction, to the (stunning) urban landscapes of Singapore.

I've been in Singapore for many years, arriving here after completing my first degree. I thought I'd come for six months to "get rich" selling at kiosks and return to Israel to start real life. What I didn't plan was that real life would begin right here in Singapore, precisely at the end of my planned six months. I met a Chinese woman, and the magic happened, and today we are a family. I continued to work in sales, reaching senior management positions behind the scenes. Something deep inside me always knew that this wasn't the field that would bring me happiness, that I had simply stumbled into a situation, into the rat race as a wise man once defined it (Robert Kiyosaki). While sitting alone (my wife is an essential worker, and our child hadn't been born yet), idle, at home, memories of the old Avihai resurfaced, the Avihai of my childhood, the same Avihai who dreamed of being a tour guide, who never imagined himself as an office worker confined within walls from ten to six. I realized that this was my opportunity to make a change in my life and bring back the old Avihai I loved so much.

At the end of the lockdown, my firstborn son, Maayan, was born, and shortly after, the project "Singapore - The Hot Spot" was born. I started uploading videos to my Facebook, Instagram, and YouTube pages, and since then, I've been uploading content weekly. I've become the Israeli face of Singapore. I'm active in all Singaporean Facebook groups, I manage the group "Singapore - Up-to-date Information from the Field and Tips for Travelers," and I've appeared several times on News 12 explaining what's happening in Singapore. I patiently waited for the Singaporean tourism schools to resume operations, and the moment it was possible, I enrolled in a six-month tour guide course.
